SpiderWire utilizes some of the strongest fibers in the world to construct our line, all without compromising weight. These fibers are known as Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) and are almost unbreakable. It is even said to be 15 times as strong as quality steel and while the slick surface of the fiber can make it difficult to add coatings and color, SpiderWire engineers have developed special coatings that also provide special properties to improve the angler experience including color for visibility, body for casting performance and wind knot resistance, and reduced friction for faster, quieter casting.
